This Week In Neo Tokyo:
Haters Will Need Medical Help

“Imagine being in the crypto gaming illuminati before the coming bull run. Haters will need medical help.”

That’s not a threat, it’s a promise from our Angelic Overlord, Ellio, who’s been socializing with fellow citizens at Purgatory Club and Angie's Bar over the past week.

Ellio isn't the only one caught up in the bullish fever; our primary hubs are reminiscent of the bull run days with an abundance of excitement and lively discussions. The chat activity has even reached a level where, as one citizen pointed out, we need our record keepers back!

Following last week's announcement of the Neo Tokyo Partner Program, the inaugural four partners were revealed to be NGMI Lab, Mint Defense, MHL Solutions, and Music Mainnet! Each partner is offering citizens exclusive deals to their services that are not available anywhere else.

To claim these offers, head to the Citizen-Partners channel here, where you’ll find out more on each package and how to sign up. Congratulations to all four, and thank you for being such fine representatives of what Neo Tokyo is capable of!

Speaking of representation, we have an outstanding line-up in this year's Citadel Awards. The votes are pouring in to show appreciation for our favorite citizens who have made remarkable contributions over the past year. Don't forget to cast your vote and have a say in who should be immortalized in the annals of Citadel history. You can vote here in the Voting-Citadel-Awards channel.

CitCap aren’t just all about bringing us investment opportunities, they’re also considerate of us citizens who might be curious about the progress of previous investments made over the past 18 months. That’s why they’re launching a series of AMAs to get recaps from the projects and companies that opened up to us during that time. The first recap, featuring LandX, took place yesterday, and you can listen to the recording here.

And this just in….CitCap has deemed an opportunity with Shrapnel as a GO after feedback from citizens! “We will provide more thorough analysis and a research paper for you in the coming days, and communicate our interest to the Shrapnel team.” announced bings.eth.

Did you happen to catch the revival of a beloved classic last Saturday? Thanks to the efforts of BadFuture and butwouldya, the much-loved Neo Tokyo News video updates made a triumphant return to provide an October recap. Are we excited to have these back? Yes we are! Go show these kings your appreciation for doing what needed to be done!

As always, NT has been killing it in the X Spaces scene. On November 2nd, we hosted the mobile game studio, AOFverse. Yesterday, we had an absolute barnstormer with Jamie Thomson of Vulcan Forged, attracting over 30,000 listeners! Most recently, earlier today, we had a discussion with Web3 gaming hub, Owned, where we learned about their plan to seamlessly integrate Web2 gamers into Web3.

Lastly, as business has picked up and the chaos has returned, it can be confusing to decide which gaming tokens to focus on. Fortunately, Chr0nicle shared a very useful infographic with us, created by Arcade; a comprehensive web3 games glossary. There are 300 options to sift through, but this should help narrow down your choices as they are all categorized.

Until next week! Be sure to show our sponsor, Playa3ull Games some love and go check out what their building:

$MEME Token Launch

Here we are. The markets are pumping again and crypto degens are slowly waking up, like bears coming out of hibernation.

This also means that smart players in the space are taking advantage of this opportunity to draw some attention (and with it, liquidity) to themselves. One such project is Memeland’s Memecoin ($MEME) which had a very successful launch this week.

After generating some initial hype, they managed to get on Binance’s Launchpool and got listed on almost all other major exchanges. There were a lot of people who were eligible for the airdrop, mainly holders of NFTs from the 9GAG ecosystem. Additionally, everyone was also given an option to farm points, which people speculated could also lead to a small chunk of the pie.

There was, of course, a period of uncertainty and high volatility a few hours after launch, but the price has since stabilised around $0.023, which translates to around $200 million market capitalization. This is almost 3x of the estimated FDV (Fully Diluted Valuation) of $69 million that was originally anticipated.

After the coin was airdropped, the NFT floors in their ecosystem took a hit, but this is nothing out of the ordinary.

For now, it looks like it is going to bounce back at least a bit, but I do anticipate a slow bleed both for the $MEME token and their NFTs in the following weeks if they don't release any new exciting updates and if the markets don't go into hyper-bullish mode.

Cocaine and Cornflakes: How I Met Web3

There is a new podcast in town hosted by Sarah Block_Editor and Mark MHL.eth. The recordings will feature interviews of projects, founders, and innovators building web3, and the content will go on to be published as articles in either GeN3 Magazine, Influencive.com, or Neo Tokyo News. For their 3rd episode, they mixed it up a tad and invited PhoenixxDown on for a candid conversation titled “Alcohol Abstinence and Fasting.”

The trio discussed their history with alcohol, along with their recent endeavors to abstain from it, in true Zssbecker fashion. They also delved into their experiences with fasting and the positive impacts it had on their productivity working in web3.

The discussion meanders its way through nature vs. nurture, moon phases, and of course, Cocaine and Cornflakes. You won’t want to miss this one and be sure to give @howimetweb3 a follow on X.

Ordinals Are Dead?

"Ordinals are ded" has become the new meme around the BTC ecosystem of digital artifacts, as the market has began to rally the last few weeks. This is a tongue-in-cheek response to various claims that Ordinals were just a passing fad, and the demise of the protocol was inevitable. I think this meme will have lasting effects as the Ordinal movement is anything but dead, and continues to grow and flourish at an amazing rate.

Casey Rodarmor, a long time Bitcoin Core dev, is the creator of Ordinals on BTC. The Ordinal protocol outlines a way in which to sequentially number satoshis. Once satoshis are given a serial number, users can inscribe data onto those satoshis to make digital artifacts, which is Rodarmor’s preferred term over NFTs.

With Bitcoin being compared to digital gold, it makes sense to keep your artwork on the most exclusive piece of digital real estate available. Not only that, but with Bitcoin being the prominent blockchain most widely recognized by non-crypto native people, there’s a fair chance that JPEGs on BTC will be the catalyst for their onboarding into this world.

Being this early to such an innovative sector has been likened to minting CryptoPunks in 2017. The tech is still primitive in many ways and a big wave of users have not arrived yet. This may be the chance to get in on the ground floor of an amazing opportunity for the next cycle!
