This Week In Neo Tokyo:
$200 Is Programmed

Last Monday we had our 30th Town Hall, where the usual monthly recap, division updates, “what’s in progress” segment, and Q&A were accompanied by the delightful news of three new Council appointments.

A huge GRAND RISING to our newest members on the council: DylanDaVillain, Giuzu, and Subcoder!

Each of the new appointees gave a bit of background info on themselves live on stage, so get to know them and then say hello in Purg or Angie’s if you’re previously unfamiliar.

This Week’s Neo Tokyo Content

Interlinked #78

All three hosts are back together for this episode with their guest, the aforementioned Council member, Subcoder, in “Lessons from a Game Dev OG.”

They explore the importance of community engagement in gaming, the potential of Web3 tech, and the impact of AI on player experiences and marketing strategies.

They also discuss the need for reducing friction in user onboarding and the benefits of integrating gaming with real-life applications, like improving life skills.

Market Monday #120

The bull run hasn’t even started yet, bro. Influenceroooors are back in the trenches and doing what they do best. Maximum extraction. The only industry where you can torch your reputation with hellfire and brimstone, and everyone forgets if you give them a 3x a couple of weeks later.

That aside, we chatted about Pokémon, CloneX’s final rug, and where we see this bull run finishing.

NT x Unfungible Space #30

Anime and crypto go hand in hand. But what about in crypto gaming? The panel this week are out to prove how bullish they are on it, going live in just a few hours.

Evermoon AMA

The CEO of this AI-powered Web3 ecosystem, blending gaming, DeFi, and VTubers, joins the AMA team to talk about their two games: Evermoon, a 5v5, 3-lane MOBA, and Axolt’s Escape, an endless runner.

Short-ish Scoops

Doubtful you missed this one because it’s a banger that was everywhere, but for all the BYTES bullposting we do, this is just sublime perfection.

Simple, honest. The BYTES tokenomics distribution. What other project did this? No one.

$200 is programmed.

This week’s NT Plays event is hosted in partnership with Super, featuring the game My Pet Hooligan.

Expect raffles, mayhem, and a $5K prize pool. New council member DylanDaVillain said at the Town Hall: just show up — chances are, you’ll walk away with a prize.

Check out this thread for the full prize breakdown. If you don’t come out of it with more than what you went in with, I don’t know what to tell you.

A quick reminder: Shibuya Mall is open for business with other projects. If you want the same high-quality merch NT rocks for your own community, hit them up through the link below:

One of NT’s lead artists, Jeff Treves, has been telling his story on X. “Who Cares About Who I Am?” asks Jeff. Well, your legion of fans do, of course. Read up below:

And we always end the week with some unhinged BYTES bullposting.

This man makes this part of the weekly update so easy; it’s Ktrap again with his biweekly update on what’s happening not only with $BYTES, but with NT assets.

Floor prices, staking percentages, yield stats — check it out and get up to date:

From Ktrap to K-Punk, I stumbled upon this one from February that was somehow overlooked.

Fear is part of many people’s aura in crypto. They are scared of everything and carry a cursed sort of energy about them.

K-Punk feasts on the fear. He uses it as a deadly weapon. He is afflicted with a massive amount of nervous energy from the sheer potential he sees, but is metabolizing it to become stronger.

In a space full to the brim of cowards, K-Punk shows there is a different path one can take.

Until next next week, citizens.

Would You Launch a Coin For 100K?

Pump.fun was a novel idea. A groundbreaking platform for its time. Arguably it brought more bad than good to crypto space, but you can't deny that their founders saw a good product market fit, implemented it correctly and timed it wisely… and then max extracted.

And since then everyone wanted to launch their own version of “a memecoin launchpad.”

There have been many copycat attempts by many companies who feel left out, and everyone is now trying to get their piece of the pie. This week, we have seen a potential novel variation of this idea and a new platform: Boop.fun. Of course, they also launched their token $BOOP.

When you connect your twitter to the website, you will be greeted with the following display:

That is, of course, if you are not an influencer. Otherwise you can get anywhere from 30k to 300k depending on how much you yap on twitter.

There is a twist, however. A couple of them, actually.

The first and biggest issue: in order to unlock your allocation, you must launch your own coin which is tied to your twitter account - so your followers can see it and invest into it. It’s the simple and well-known equivalent of “swapping your followers for cash” and actually a pretty good filter to know who the sell-outs are.

Many people were faced with this and decided to ask their community what they think about all of it first.

It’s like the ultimate test of someone's reputation.

Additionally, what's most funny about this is that it's the ultimate trap - they make influencers wait 30 days to actually get tokens after they initiate the claim.

It is likely that the $BOOP price will be a lot lower by then, after everyone starts dumping on each other.

We will see how this plays out, but so far it is slightly exciting to watch who wants to throw their reputation in the bin and who decided to preserve it.

See you in the next one 🫡
