This Week In Neo Tokyo:
Starting 2024 with a Bang

The Neo Tokyo community - and the general crypto market - welcomed in the new year well positioned, with rising momentum. Neither has disappointed, as the big BTC ETF announcement has markets pumping, and The Citadel just keeps providing value to its citizens.

The release of NT’s updated Citizen Founders Graphic showcased the amazing phalanx of crypto gaming all stars that The Citadel has amassed.

The fruits that have ripened over Neo Tokyo’s first two years were then highlighted in Oscar-worthy fashion by LeBoomington and his video team. Check it out here, or over on NTV.

This week, 20 lucky citizens gained early access to Endless Clouds Games: Treeverse and Capsule Heroes. It sounds like Neo Tokyo will be getting many more similar opportunities in upcoming blockchain games, so stay tuned to Discord announcements for the next chance to apply.

Thrasher, dropped into Discord announcements to drop some Updates to the Citizen Ranking system. It was also noted that citizens can no longer lose their Elite status while they are staked.

If you missed the NT 2024 Kickoff Townhall, check it out here.

CitCap came through with another banger investment opportunity last week. Stay tuned, as there is another big opportunity expected for the end of January.

BlockGames is the latest in a long list of partnerships the Outreach Team has secured for citizens.

For those looking for quality podcast content, the Interlinked team sat down for an exclusive interview with Yat Siu of Animoca Brands for their 10th episode, while The NFT Market Monday crew had previewed the Naffles launch, before hosting the CEO of Verasity. Don’t miss the one-year anniversary episode of NFT Market Monday next week with special guests from Heroes of Mavia.

Let’s Talk About Azuki, Again

Today we will try to answer two questions at once.

  1. Why is Azuki pumping?

  2. Wen token?

What's more, these two questions seem to be correlated.

First off, this is what Azuki’s weekly chart looks like:

It was creeping up slowly for a while now, since its bottom at around 3,5 ETH after that whole Vegas event and Elementals mint. Speculations from holders when they saw whales doubling down were like whispers in the cold night.

Then the rumors kind of subsided and the overall uncertainty in the crypto and NFT space brought the price to stagnation. But then, as they say, slowly than all at once - it skyrocketed in a short span of time. This is what the price action looks like these days:

Pretty impressive. Especially when you consider most other NFTs are down 10-25% this week due to ETH’s sustained rally upwards, breaking 2,5k for the first time since 2022.

So what is happening in The Garden these days, exactly?

Well, 2024 being the year of airdrops, Azuki seems to be jumping on board with their own TGE which will be distributed to holders. At first people speculated the price is going up because of their upcoming anniversary, later, it turns out, they have been planning much bigger things. It also looks like their anime is closer than people anticipated.

Azuki’s official account retweeted a post by weeb3, saying “towards an open anime universe.”

On Wednesday, more news was released, with NFTNow releasing a post, explaining that Azuki’s upcoming anime will be an anthology series directed by renowned Gorō Taniguchi. Read more about it, here

With all this positive developments, it looks like momentum is back in Azuki's corner. The overall sentiment towards Azuki on social media and in web3 is getting very bullish again, and people are praising them for innovation.

A rising tide lifts all boats.

As this is a developing situation we might see more information come to light in the following days, but one thing is certain: those pretty Elementals are starting to look tempting again.

Make sure to watch Azuki’s anime trailer, released 4 months ago, if you haven't already. It's dope.

BTC ETF Recap in Memes

It seems GaryG and the SEC have all our heads spinning this week… Has the ETF been approved or not? How is the SEC supposed to protect us if they can’t control their own X account? Should we expect a dump, or is this the beginning of the big Moon mission?

This story could be some of the best evidence yet that we’re all in a simulation, and the lead dev has a great sense of humor.

Anyways, Everyone has been giving their take on the ETF news, and you’re all probably sick of reading about it. So, let’s pass it over to the Meme Master himself, Joe Photoshopped_AF, for a recap of the week’s top story.

not a meme, lol

But, no matter how hard he tried, Gary couldn’t stop the inevitable…

…so it looks like he’s now turning his attention to those pesky Solana shitcoin-trading degens.
