This is it. This is the moment we have all been waiting for. And by “we” I mean the collective of aspiring degen gamers and investors who were previously quite let down by a lot of web3 games, some of which took years to develop, but eventually fell short of people’s expectations.

But now, things are seemingly turning around. “This is it,” the crowds are shouting. “This is literally it.”

This changes everything. Everyone seems to be genuinely excited about it, instead of just pretending that they are - you know, how it is with most web3 games that mostly care about profits over gameplay.

Off the grid managed to get to a point where the web3 aspect of it is not even the main focus. What everyone is talking about is the actual name, not its growth potential, NFT floor prices, and in-game or on-chain payments associated with it.

Off The Grid was constructed in a way that makes the crypto part of it happen in the background.

That being said, the game is causing Avalanche blockchain to overheat due to its popularity. There have been 2.1 million transactions done on it in a single day after Off The Grid’s release. 

Ever since a few sneak peeks came out, there have been numerous tweets, streaming clips and Youtube shorts praising how good the game is. And not just one or two aspects of it, but the overall quality of the game itself.

It is no secret that memecoins overshadowed much of the hype we thought will go to crypto gaming this bull cycle. But Off The Grid managed to successfully relight that spark many of us had for the future of web3 gaming space. And things are looking on the up and up recently, with many people thinking about it as just the first step in the right direction.

Could this be the game that brings “web3 adoption to the masses?”

Flower83’s path into the crypto world began when he was still navigating the complexities of adolescence. Born on the cusp of the digital revolution, he straddled both the analog and digital realms, recalling days spent running through fields alongside late-night gaming sessions.

A dedicated gamer, Flower83’s formative years were shaped by titles like Warcraft 3 and RuneScape, games that not only colored his childhood but also ignited his interest in virtual economies and digital ownership.

His entry into the crypto sphere was unconventional. While in high school, a close friend—a self-taught coder—introduced him to Bitcoin. Together, they navigated the shadowy corridors of Silk Road, becoming early adopters of Bitcoin long before it became mainstream. Reflecting on the days when he held several Bitcoin, Flower83 fondly recalled the volatility of the times. Merely a tool for colorful transactions at the time; today, it stands as a formidable force in the financial universe.

A Bumpy Ride Through Crypto Cycles

Like many that traveled the Silk Road, Flower83’s journey has been a roller coaster of highs and lows. After the Bitcoin crash around 2013-2014, he took a step back. It wasn’t until the 2017 bull run that he returned, experimenting with mining Litecoins for a brief time. The real turning point came in 2020-2021, as NFTs began to explode onto the scene. Flower83's passion for gaming naturally drew him to this new frontier of digital ownership.

Discovering Neo Tokyo

Flower83’s first encounter with Neo Tokyo unfolded through the first riddles but he initially missed out on the highly coveted S1 mint. As the NFT market began to fluctuate, he seized the opportunity to acquire an S2, and eventually, a prized S1, marking his full immersion into The Citadel.

Once inside The Citadel, Flower83 quickly found his niche within the community. He began contributing by crafting lore pieces, fascinated by the cyberpunk narrative underpinning Neo Tokyo. He soon met up with ZeHi and got the go ahead to write a piece for the citizen news.

From there, Flower83 became a vital member of Neo Tokyo’s news team, leaving a lasting mark with his contributions. His debut article focused on a significant moment in the gaming and NFT landscape: Microsoft’s decision to shut down Minecraft servers utilizing NFTs. This piece was well-received, launching his career as a trusted voice within Neo Tokyo.

In addition to his lore contributions, Flower83 took on the responsibility of writing a weekly feature called ‘NFT Tuesday,’ a comprehensive report on the NFT space that proved to be prophetic with some of his observations. His presence was eventually demanded on what is now Market Monday. Though initially apprehensive about public speaking with English not being his first language, with practice, Flower83 now relishes the chance to engage with others and plans to use his new position on the council to do even more for the community.
