Would You Quit Your Job & Go Full Time Web3 For $500k Per Month??

It’s interesting to observe the afterglow of energy reverberating throughout our infinite cosmos, when vastly different worlds collide. Most of us are out here grinding for a modest paycheck, but every once in a while we are forced to question our life’s decisions when we come across posts such as a couple from this week.

This all reminds me of the good old days when we saw statements as the title above as a popular clickbaity tactic in peak NFT hype era when people were spamming “Would you quit your day job for 10k per month and go full time web3??”

Obviously nobody in their right mind will offer you 10k monthly to be a discord mod, or game tester or their social media manager, but it turns out they would pay A LOT more for you to shill their casino.

This mentality from 2022 apparently did pave the way for today’s scammy and shady business of being an influencer (and yes I am sticking with influencer, saying KOL is giving them credibility in a way.) Kids growing up these days want to be influencers. It’s the endgame. Because then you can do undisclosed paid shills, like the cool kids.

Let’s unpack this week’s events and drama chronologically, with receipts, and observe some funny interactions, because frankly, this is peak CT absurdity.

June 17th, 2025 - How the 500k Shill Saga Unfolded

It all started when Cobie dropped a juicy reply to WazzCrypto, exposing a DM allegedly showing that members of the FaZe Clan (yes, them again lol) were caught in a sneaky, undisclosed shill of a crypto project called “Luck.io.” Catchy name, I have to admit.

Supposedly they are raking in $500k a month for it. Allegedly. Maybe. A tiny few, anyway.

Apparently most are in the 20-40k range but some (lots?) are above 200k. Doesn't really matter at the end of the day, what matters is how everyone instantly lost their mind about it.

Besides massive outrage, the post sparked an arguably productive discourse about ethics, greed, and whether anyone would say no to that kind of cash. And, just how legal this all is, or isn't.

Other “leaked” DMs, which we haven’t seen in full (because, you know, CT loves a good screenshot without context), supposedly show FaZe members coordinating their shilling strategy without slapping the legally required #ad or #sponsored tags. If true, this is a big legal mistake in the influencer world.

June 18, 2025 - The Aftermath: CT Goes Wild

By the next day, CT was a warzone. Crypto influencers, degens, and moral crusaders flooded the timeline with takes. Some users, like CryptoGemHunter, called out the hypocrisy of influencers preaching “financial freedom” while secretly shilling casinos.

Others, just shrugged and tweeted, stuff like “500k a month? I’d shill a scam for half that, ngl.” Well, at least you are honest, buddy. Many would.

There were also gems like these:

My favourites were from people pretending that this isn't a lot of money.

We’ve seen a few of those recently, beginning with Ansem’s famous “8 milly isn't much” and then surpassed by James’ Wynn’s “100 million is only a lot to a limited human mind.”

June 19, 2025: The Ethics Debate Heats Up

Soon after the dust started to settle, CT’s more reasonable (I think?) voices pitched in. Some argued that undisclosed shills not only mislead followers but also fuel the narrative that Web3 is a cesspool of grifters. A fair assessment, I’d say.

Some were more brutal and vocal about it all, though:

Others also did you a favor. Here is a good blocklist of everyone who supposedly shilling this, if you don't want to interact with grifters on the timeline:

The Bigger Picture: Web3 Casinos and Shilling Culture

These recent events are interesting for a few reasons, it isn’t just about FaZe Clan or another dodgy casino. It’s a snapshot of the industry we are trying to work in, and shows the discrepancy between people wanting to create value and others getting paid to just tweet stuff (stuff that arguably harms others and the space itself).

After people saw the success of Rollbit, Solcasino, Stake, and others, crypto casinos are booming in 2025, and everyone wants to get into the business. Apparently this “Luck” casino also has ties to Rollbit?

There are also a lot of coins that allow you to “bet” on this industry rising. Did you know there are this many?

Our specific, “Luck” casino in question remains murky, but speculation points to a Web3 gambling platform, likely just one of the many popping up in 2025, but with better marketing than others.

They are popular, because most offer no-KYC policies, 10-minute withdrawals, provably fair games powered by blockchain tech, and NFT rewards & rakeback in the form of their native currency. These platforms are like catnip for crypto bros, but they’re also a regulatory grey area, making them perfect for rugs & shady shilling.

Remember kids, don't gamble. You will likely lose. And this article is not an endorsement. Do I think casinos & shilling are both shady businesses? Yes. Now, would I tweet a referral link for 500k? Also, yes, lol. Even for 100x less probably. It’s on you if you click on it and start depositing money. Take responsibility for your own actions. See you next week.

This Week In Neo Tokyo:
$BYTES Will Go Diddy Mode

It looks as though ByteStreet is here… almost. A second post from the elusive official investment arm of Neo Tokyo hit our TLs on Wednesday.

No launch date known yet, despite some rumors saying 2 weeks, but here’s what’s happened since:

  • ByteStreet now has two channels in the Discord server: announcements and chat.

  • The ByteStreet pings role is now available for all to utilize. Get that switched on so you don’t miss the grand arrival of our ByteStreet overlords and their subsequent announcements.

Moving on, it is important you STOP gambling your budget on unvetted professionals. Stop this madness at once. Instead, as a founder, you should use the newly launched NT Accelerator, a way to connect you to top builders inside The Citadel, all vetted and vouched for.

Lastly… LOL… LMFAO, even. Great story and an epic scammer crashout.

Market Monday #126

The market might be the screaming shits right now, but at least we won the Battle For $100K where Bitcoin is concerned. Missiles being lobbed from the sky and threats of who knows whatever else couldn’t break Bitcoin.

As for alts, that’s the new battle: the Battle For Altseason. The team discussed it all plus much more this past Monday.

NT x Unfungible Space

Is The Dark Internet more than just a theory? I’ve been up reading crazy shit at 3am more than enough to know the answer, but the panel discusses later today in just a few hours, and I for one am looking forward to this one!

Find out more later today at 12:00 ET. Set reminders/listen back here.

Portal AMA

Cryptoetheus is joined by the Co-Founder of Portal, George Burke, to talk about the only custody-less solution enabling native Bitcoin to flow seamlessly across other chains.
