This Week In Neo Tokyo:
Citizens Know the Best Is Yet to Come

Sometimes we kick off with a welcome to a newcomer who just joined The Citadel, but this week we extend a warm welcome BACK to an OG minter, primeape.eth. Read below on what brought them back home:

It was announced earlier this week that our relationship with SIPHER continues strong, with citizens receiving bonus points and a 10% multiplier for the current play-to-airdrop campaign. Not only that, but this perk extends to all holders of $BYTES, so be sure to let your meatbag acquaintances know. Get involved here.

Content wise, this is how things shaped up:

Interlinked Episode #34 welcomes Tony Valcarcel to the show to talk about one of Neo Tokyo’s closest ally’s, SHRAPNEL. Key discussions include user generated content, play tests, and a deep dive into Tony’s interesting past.

Mighty Action Heroes AMA - Ben catches up with several of the team from the third-person battle royale game to learn more about what they’ve been cooking. Built by Mighty Bear Games, players can earn NFT heroes and items, and is currently in open beta and free to play. Listen back here.

Kondux AMA - The web3 design studio joins the AMA team for a talk about their work in integrating NVIDIA’s Omniverse AI-powered technologies. Kondux offers game-fi devs real-time collaboration, and photorealistic rendering with AI capabilities. Listen back here.

Meet Your Citizens - Block sits down with dedicated NT contributor and wearer of many hats, Fractillians. In the discussion, we learn about Fractillians' STEM education background, her DAO contributions, NFT art, and metaverse building projects that have fueled her passion in The Citadel.

NFT Market Monday - So, what the hell happened with that zkSync airdrop? Flower explained all during the most recent episode, along with discussions on the deteriorating state of CryptoTwitter, some Runes news, “is crypto gaming dead” (again, again, again) - and our special guest, @dickbrAInMeme, discussed what it takes to create a sustainable meme token. Listen back here.

Wolfyyy shared a very cool rendition of his citizen reimagined as a Lego character. Makes you wonder what other art style derivatives would look good for our citizens.

Ktrap’s most recent update signaled the passing of the much-dreaded 1-Year staking unlock date…but as it turns out, only 14 S1s and 15 S2s unstaked. “Citizens know the best is to come,” as our man rightly said.

Games are now live on Naffles, where you can play against other participants for ETH, SOL, or Nafflings points which you can stack for the coming drop. This is your periodic reminder to keep an eye on the Founder Pings channel, with recent updates from Moonport, Kerberus (formerly Mint Defense), Champz, and Birthmark. Get updated here.

Finally, we ask the question, “What inspires you to contribute to Neo Tokyo?” Read into the ethos behind Citadel Law #2, which highlights that a community's true worth is determined by its people. Never a truer example than that right here in NT.

Until next week, citizens.

QUDO: Winner of NFC Lisbon 2024 Gaming Startup Competition

On May 29th, Felix Nordén and I participated as judges in the Gaming Startup Competition representing Neo Tokyo alongside Animoca, The Sandbox, Ubisoft, ApeCoin DAO, and many others.

Throughout the competition, five gaming-driven startups had the chance to pitch their products and address our questions. However, one of them stood out from the rest both in presentation and product quality - QUDO, which emerged as the competition's winner.

QUDO, is a Web3 gaming studio that leverages their native token ($QUDO) to incentivize game developers to convert unity-based games into Web3 games and gaming activities. All assets in the game are on-chain and they can be moved from game to game. This interoperability NFT feature is still under development, although 18 of the 41 listed games are playable from mobile and PC. NFTribes and Blox are two of the most notable games available to play.

QUDO is currently raising its seed round. While waiting for the TGE, QUDO has already launched their airdrop campaign. You can register an account and play NFTribes during the Early Access phase to receive a free NFT weapon upon the game's official release!

Meet Your Citizens:
Fractilians

  • Discord ID: fractilians

  • Background: Digital art

  • Entered Crypto: 2020

  • Joined NT: Bought in with S1

  • Expertise: 3D art

  • Dislikes: Working Solo, prefers collaborative projects

  • Most Known For: Video Team, and Content Posting

  • One Word: Fangirl

  • Outside Interests: Mountain Biking

Fractilians wears many different hats within Neo Tokyo and her pre-web3 life was much the same. Coming from an artist's background, she worked in animation films and start-ups in San Francisco during the dotcom boom. She also taught in STEM and digital arts education in Hawaii.

Then, four years ago she discovered crypto while working in Maui. She was working for the Love Serve Remember Foundation (Ram Dass) that asked her to look into NFTs. It was a rabbit hole she jumped in to and never left. She did some work for Rarible Protocol DAO, Monaverse and Decentraland DAO managing creator contests, community advocacy, hosting events, and more.

Becker and Ellio finally fell on Fractilian’s radar and the idea of joining a builder community really appealed to her. She bought in as an S1 and took the whole idea of contributing to heart. Fractilians helped with the anniversary video and started contributing more and more. “Usually my motto is, if it doesn't scare you, it's not worth doing. So this is that kind of a place,” Fractilians said of Neo Tokyo.

Fractilians is a 3D modeler and Unity educator, and a lot of her current time is spent metaverse building. She hits up hackathons whenever she can and participates in art shows often as well. The last few years she has been a part of many NFT art drops/shows, including the grifters squaddies drop as a legendary artist for vipe.io and the Decentraland Metaverse Art Festival.

Within Neo Tokyo, Fractilians plays several roles. She helps with the video team division, helps post and coordinate our socials, and assists with coordinating the AMAs. She refers to herself as a ‘fangirl,’ often just being here to cheer on the citizens.

Outside of web3, Fractillians is an avid mountain biker, and works with a web2 company that collaborates with about 400 brands from around the world. Fratilians coached downhill mountain biking for about 6 years at Angel Fire Bike Park. Self-titled “a dirt gypsy,” Fractilians said, “It's my church, really. I go outside. I go look at these beautiful trees, the animals, the mountains. It's just my happy place. I love it.”
