The promise of crypto gaming has been at the forefront of Neo Tokyo’s thesis for global domination and face-melting, family-retiring success. 

Yet if I was attempting to live off those old CitCap investments, I would be a poor, starving reprobate. (Though we all trust that PhoenixxDown will save us with his $SUPRA FUD).

So that leads me to the age-old question: Is crypto gaming truly inedible?

The trend of crypto gaming projects pumping out hype and then flopping like a dead duck continued this week with both $XO and $000 providing great opportunities for early investors to turn steak dinners into gruel.

Whether it’s just oversaturation, Web3 gaming companies’ focus on trying to convert Web2 gamers, poor quality games, or just an Altcoin market that refuses to heed the Dark Lord’s attempts to invoke Alt szn through his constant incantations, crypto gaming does currently appear to be incapable of providing sufficient nutritional value to sustain life.

Still, our Founders clearly aren’t the type of influencers that would just blow smoke up our asses. Many educated folks have shown clear rationale as to why blockchain and AI technology could combine to create powerful unified social ecosystems that could revolutionize the industry.

By following the money, it appears that people are getting pretty savvy to the fact that speculative gaming projects are about as edible as cotton candy.

Gaming infrastructure projects, however, could be a viable staple during this alt famine period. So far this year, two-thirds of blockchain gaming investments have gone into core infrastructure, as smart money seems to be shifting focus from short-term hype to long-term scalability.

It is also notable that most of the recent partnerships that Neo Tokyo has announced are in the gaming infrastructure category. Very interesting!

We’re all anticipating the possible investment opportunities that ByteStreet will soon bring to citizens (along with the inevitable mooooning of $BYTES).

While we may not be able to retire our families, let’s hope some of these opportunities have the long-term focus to allow us to fill our bellies. Lord knows they’re RUMBLING.
