This Week In Neo Tokyo:
Citizen Summer Has Commenced!

After a prolonged period of upward movement, when the vibes were immaculate and everyone was winning together, the recent uncertain price action has affected some more than others. And what do we tend to do during sideways action? Argue. Tempers have been frayed on the TL with founders engaging in spats, tossing around allegations of larpery like it’s a hot potato at a family picnic.

Amidst all the noise and drama, Neo Tokyo remains resolute as the strongest network of project founders and builders in the space—and we have the resources and services to support that claim.

Over the past few months, led by Citizen Slime, the NT Support Agency has diligently connected projects with top vetted resources in various areas such as business strategy, marketing, creative services, advisory, and much more. What does this mean for you?

On the content front, it's been another eventful week:

Degen Digest: ZeHI, Shamsi, and ButWouldYa return for more spicy shenanigans, covering the aforementioned KOL wars, some Runes talk, Turbo TA, and a debate on whether it’s time to long or short the market.

NFT Market Monday: General market updates, insights into the current sentiment across the board, and an update from Chr0nicle who attended Token2049 in Dubai. Listen back here.

Interlinked #26: Special guest Metro, the CEO and Founder of Kerberus (formerly known as MintDefense), joins Ben and Nick to discuss web3 security, hardware wallets, and scams.

Petopia AMA: CEO of Mirai Labs, Corey Wilton, discusses the mobile roguelite shooter with the team ahead of their NFT collection launch. Listen back here.

Meet your Citizens: Block Editor is joined by Felix Norden, a legendary OG architect of Neo Tokyo, to delve into his background in engineering, machine learning, and his journey in Web3.

Upcoming: Following 'Staches playthrough of Forgotten Playland last week, tomorrow, you will get the chance to play with fellow citizens and "vibe, chill, and beat the hell out of each other with tiny teddy bear plushies." If that sounds like your kind of flex, register your interest here and set your reminders. (There will be many chances to win FP Toyboxes by participating!)

And in less than a couple of hours time, CitCap will be hosting the subject of our latest investment opportunity, Nyan Heroes. Tune in here for it at 9am EST.

For game builders, here's something of interest: the Founder of Namespace, thecap.eth, is offering all citizens building games free use of their offchain subname API. If you're interested in integrating ENS and adding digital identity for your players, drop him a ping on Discord or X at @TheCapHimself.

Uniqly released a short video of the GameSwift Token2049 yacht party in Dubai that citizens such as Chr0nicle attended. Citizen Summer has commenced!

Metro concludes this week’s edition with a clip of his appearance in Bangkok at South East Asia Blockchain Week on a panel discussing "Building Trust in Web3: Strategies to Safeguard the Web3 Users and Builders."

Until next week, citizens.

Neo Tokyo at NFC Lisbon 2024

One of Europe's premier Web3 summits, the Non Fungible Conference, co-organized by Sandbox and Wemix, has invited Neo Tokyo to participate in the Gaming Startup Battle as part of the jury. The task involves selecting the winner from five gaming startups pitching on the 28th. The victorious startup will earn the chance to present their project on the main stage.

The prospect of attending this event in Lisbon, along with our existing plans, has motivated Felixnorden and I to represent The Citadel at this event.

Our responsibilities extend beyond conference participation. We must review the top 10 applications, meaning that there is still room for additional applications.

The project application will end on the 5th of May, the project selection is scheduled for May 15th, and the winner will be announced on the 29th during the conference.

Additionally, Neo Tokyo has secured a 90% discount code for 20 tickets with the code NFC24NEOTOKYOROCKS.

If you plan to attend the conference, please let me or Felix know so we can coordinate an exclusive NT private party—dinner somewhere fancy!

  • One Word: Nature

An East Coast native, ZeHI moved out to Hawaii with his family around 9. A fairly serious back injury turned the athletic jock into an introspective thinker around the age of 12. ZeHi stumbled upon some books about the Amazon, ethnobotany, and plant medicines. He became very interested in psychedelics and shamanic studies. After discussing it with his parents he learned, his dad had been representing a group in the Amazon providing him with connections that could take ZeHI’s interests to the next level.

Just a few days after graduating High School, ZeHI travelled to a village deep in the jungle, learning medicine traditions and practices for much of his teens and twenties. He did his Masters Thesis on the system of healing, practiced in the village. After reading the thesis, his professor, Stanley Kripner, invited ZeHI to do a presentation at Albert Hoffman’s (discovered LSD) 100th birthday. There was a group at this party filming a documentary on Albert, and ZeHI actually played the role of Hoffman in his famous Bicycle day trip.

Once he started having a family, he realized he needed a real job and became a licensed Marriage Family Therapist with a private practice, while also practicing alternative healing that he learned abroad.

Crypto came on the scene sometime around 2021, when ZeHI had a teenage client that started teaching him about Bitcoin and convinced him to look into it. The restrictions in Hawaii presented quite the barrier, but he eventually found an entry. Shortly after, he started following Becker and Ellio, which turned him onto the NFT scene and the Neo Tokyo riddles. He joined a few communities working to solve them and he managed to mint in the infamous group 3.

Presently, ZeHI still helps run the Neo Tokyo News, runs his private practice, and helps manage several farms on the islands. He is also developing some communities with sustainable living and alternative healing work. Most recently he started helping to develop a beautiful property that they are turning into a healing retreat centre which consumes a lot of his time. He also consults on a few projects, one in particular, recently put a telescope on the Moon on the first commercial moon lander.

ZeHI has developed a large network in web3 and is happy to help connect citizens. Also, with his specialty in mental and spiritual health, he says it's important for citizens “to pay good attention to the mental and psychological factors that can make the difference from us being ahead of the game and playing this four dimensional chess rather than just being one of the sheep.”

ZeHI helped lead the Health is Wealth space last year. Also, as one of the heads of Neo Tokyo News, citizens can reach out to ZeHI if they are looking for a little extra coverage for marketing their project on Market Monday or the NT Newsletter.

ZeHI’s largest contribution to NeoTokyo has definitely been the ongoing management of the News Team. BadFuture established the division in the early days of The Citadel, and ZeHI joined a few weeks later. “We did newsletters everyday for 230 something days straight,” ZeHI said. He fondly referred to it as a “magic time” in The Citadel. When the market shifted the News Team shifted toward general media and being a voice outside of NeoTokyo so more people can learn what's going on within. ZeHI recently formed Degen Digest, alongside Shamsi and ButWouldYa. The show airs weekly on Neo Tokyo Vision on YouTube.

Outside Neo Tokyo, ZeHI enjoys studying ethnobotany and gardening. He likes to plant and grow different kinds of medicines from all over the world. He enjoys watching them thrive and experiencing the good benefits they bring through their medicinal uses. He also enjoys surfing and stand-up paddleboarding.
