This Week in Neo Tokyo

As we move from Sideways-September to Uptober, the degens of The Citadel are hopefully awaiting some friendly price action in the crypto space so they can resuscitate their reprobate routines and hone their alpha-calling credentials, instead of just bidding on BitBoy’s floundered estate.

October 6th marks the 2-year anniversary of Neo Tokyo opening the doors to its Discord server. Our Founding Overlords are planning a special VC event to celebrate the anniversary. Stay tuned for details.

LeBoomington and his video crew are hard at work on another epic anniversary video which aims to highlight all of the builders and projects coming out of The Citadel. All builders are advised to send him footage of your project ASAP, if you haven’t already done so.

The latest citizen-led project to step into our cyber-stronghold’s spotlight is The Kingdom. Neo Tokyo IP will be integrated in its game and $BYTES will be added to its future marketplace. Citizens will also have special opportunities in The Kingdom’s upcoming mints and events.

@TheKingdomWrld is an interoperable social-RPG experience, where real-world cause & effect fuse w/ community narrative.

Citizens have certainly been finding ways to stay busy during the slow NFT bear market, and it appears that activity has led to a bit of a baby boom in The Citadel. NT merch master Crasher recently announced the birth of his first child in style, and Project Manager Firestorm is expecting his first child later this year.

In light of The Citadel’s new arrivals, Ben SwapFish has created the “Parents of Neo Tokyo” thread in Angie’s. This is a place for all us genetic jackhammers with mini-citizens to share experiences, advice, and have a good time discussing the joys of all that comes with parenthood!

The leads have been working hard to bring new features and value to the NT Discord. Today, marks the roll out of another great resource for citizens: a new Alpha Board.

The Alpha Board is an innovative platform within the Neo Tokyo community that facilitates the sharing of expert investment calls and recommendations. It incentivizes community members to make well-researched and successful calls by offering rewards in the form of badges and BYTES tokens. Check out the announcement in Discord for more details.

Neo Tokyo was well represented at the recent DCENTRAL Tokyo event as Mint Defense Founder Metro showed off his NT roots.

Check out our latest episode of NFT Market Monday in which we evaluated the danger zone that Binance is entering, the metaverse implications of Meta and Apple’s tech advances, and updates from SuperVerse.

Our next two episodes promise to be bangers as we receive esteemed guests from WAGMI Games and Vulcan Forged.

Outer Citizen and Founder of Namespace, thecap.eth, recently contacted Neo Tokyo News for help in locating citizens to assist with an issue. Cap is looking for an advisor who is well versed in UK law. If you fit the bill, drop him a message.

If you, or your project would like to sponsor an upcoming NFT Market Monday show, or place an announcement in our newsletter, jump into the Neo Tokyo News Division on Discord and tag @ZeHI or @Phoenixxdown.

NFT Market Update: Sideways September

After recent months of downtrend in the NFT space, things are starting to move sideways. Some (those with a bearish outlook) might call this a boring, forgotten and dead market that resembles a barren wasteland of a once fruitful and active niche of crypto. An alternative, more optimistic take is that the markets are finding equilibrium and fair value, bottoming out and recharging for an inevitable leg up.

Speculations aside, the current numbers themselves are objectively bearish. The trading volume picked up slightly, but it is still hovering around all time lows.

It is interesting to see Friend Tech itself doing more volume than the whole NFT space combined by just shifting those keys back and forth.

Even though Blur.io is still in the lead, more and more people are getting fed up with their recent updates and announcements; or lack thereof. The end for Season 2 is nowhere in sight, while the $BLUR token is being paid out to investors, advisors and the team. The accumulated losses of farmers who bought NFTs through bids on blur.io now exceeds 45,000 ETH.

The floor prices remain largely stable, at least in the Yuga’s ecosystem which usually dictates other movements. However, there are some notable mentions that are struggling.

Azuki has been on a steady decline ever since their Vegas event and is now sitting at around 4 ETH floor. Similarly, DeGods fall from grace has resulted in slow bleeding after their S3 didn't go as well as anticipated. Lastly, Milady’s and Sproto Gremlins’ floors have been in decline as well and many speculate it is because the meme coin era is ending.

There are of course collections that are doing well. For example, there is a lot of love in the space for Pudgy Penguins at the moment. With their latest announcement of “Brave New World,” they garnered positive feedback from holders and non-holders alike. Besides that, the only significant pump this week (23%) has been seen in the Gary Vee’s collection, after releasing an announcement of VeeCon for 2024.

Meet Your Neo Tokyo Community Council: Seize

  • One Word: Feisty

  • Outside Interests: Literature

In the Citadel, where innovation, creativity, and decentralization reign supreme, it’s essential to get to know the individuals who make up the community. This series of interviews is designed to introduce citizens to their community leads and council members.

Our first interview is with Seize, a writer by trade who has recently earned a spot on the Neo Tokyo Council. In this interview, we delve into his diverse background, his journey into Neo Tokyo, and his thoughts on collaborative leadership.

Pre-Crypto Background

Seize’s background is as diverse as they come. He’s worn many hats, from being a writer, a circus clown, to teaching high school, to working as both a futurist for Meta, and a deception consultant for a variety of clients. While writing his first novel, he was also waiting tables. But it was his passion for writing, nurtured through grad school and numerous jobs, that ultimately defined his career path.

Current Focus

While currently on strike with the WGA against the intrusion of AI into filmmaking, Seize’s main gig is writing novels, screenplays, and TV shows for big names like Warner Bros and HBO. To check out some of the most recent projects featuring his writing check out “Philip K Dick’s Electric Dreams” and NBC’s “The Thing About Pam.”

Entering the World of Crypto

Seize’s foray into the world of cryptocurrency began in 2016, quite serendipitously, in the back of a New York cab. A chance encounter led him to discover the Ethereum whitepaper, which ignited his interest in crypto and the decentralized world.

He couldn’t ignore the excitement and enthusiasm surrounding the industry. This eventually led him to the world of Neo Tokyo. The original riddles, while appealing, seemed outside his wheelhouse, and the chatter about coding steered him away. As the S1 mint went down, FOMO hit hard. When the S2 mint rolled around, he seized the day.

From Novels to NFTs

As a writer, Seize found himself naturally gravitating towards the narrative possibilities within Neo Tokyo. He recognized the untapped potential for narrative experiences using blockchain technology, all the while trading himself up and out of the slums into the ranks of Elite.

Joining the Neo Tokyo Council

Seize’s journey didn’t stop at the Metaverse Lounge; he wanted to contribute actively to the Neo Tokyo community. He believed in the power of collaborative leadership and the potential for decentralized communities to thrive, so when the chance to join the Council came, he jumped on it.

He was drawn to Neo Tokyo’s unique experiment of decentralized governance and community-driven decision-making. Unlike many other projects, Neo Tokyo has managed to maintain its cohesion and sense of purpose over time, making it a compelling environment. “We’re community led, everyone’s voice is equal. And the sort of bifurcation of those two ideas coming together to create something that’s bigger than the whole was the kind of experiment I wanted to be in,” said Seize.

Most in The Citadel now remember the CodeBreaker event, but few know the citizens behind it. Seize collaborated with Firestorm and JustTheSyme to help make CodeBreaker the event you look back on with PTSD. He has also contributed lore for several citizen projects including NFArcade. The opportunity to collaborate and use his storytelling skills in this highly technical world is what keeps him excited and pushing forward.

A Word to Associate with Seize: “Feisty”

When asked to describe himself in one word, Seize chose “feisty.” It’s a word that embodies his enthusiasm and determination to make an impact within the Neo Tokyo community and you’re free to refer to him as ‘feisty Seize’ from now on.

Beyond Neo Tokyo: A Love for Novels

While Seize is deeply involved in Neo Tokyo, his passion for novels remains a constant in his life. He’s an avid reader and believes that novels are the most potent form of art. His favorites include authors like Haruki Murakami and Don DeLillo, all known for their unique storytelling styles.
