Kevin Shakir’s journey into crypto began well before he ever opened a digital wallet. At just 15 years old, he discovered a passion for craftsmanship when a high school work experience program landed him at a jewelry workshop. Completely unsure of his future at the time, Kevin happened to write "jeweler" on his career preference sheet; a decision that would shape the next decade of his life.

The apprenticeship allowed him to hone his skills alongside a master jeweler, and the allure of creating something tangible from scratch ignited a passion within him. He eventually co-founded a jewelry business with his mentor, crafting custom pieces for celebrities like Hodor from Game of Thrones and Donald Glover.

Despite the shift in the industry toward mass production and CAD-based designs, Kevin remained committed to preserving the art of hand-making jewelry.

It wasn’t until 2021, in the middle of a bustling bull market, that Kevin dipped his toes into the world of cryptocurrency. He and a business partner, also in the jewelry trade, decided one evening to explore this new frontier. Starting with XRP, they quickly learned the rollercoaster nature of crypto markets—experiencing rapid gains during the bull run, followed by sharp losses as the market took a dive.

However, it was during this time that Kevin discovered the intersection of gaming and blockchain, leading him to Alex Becker and Elliott Wainman, and eventually to the Neo Tokyo community. This was a pivotal moment for Kevin, a lifelong gamer, as he saw the potential for his skills to merge with this new digital landscape.

Kevin carved out a unique niche by merging his passion for jewelry design with Web3 and gaming. His vision is not just about crafting high-end physical pieces, but about creating artifacts—pieces imbued with stories and meaning that transcend the physical world. Through his company, he’s exploring how these artifacts can be tokenized and integrated into the metaverse, allowing users to possess both a tangible item and its digital counterpart.

Kevin’s journey with Neo Tokyo is still unfolding. Though he's been a citizen for over a year, Kevin admits to keeping a low profile while quietly building in the background. Now, he’s ready to integrate his passion for jewelry into this digital world, blending craftsmanship with cutting-edge blockchain technology. By tokenizing his designs, Kevin plans to create interoperable assets that can be utilized in Web3 games.

The idea is ambitious: imagine owning a unique piece of jewelry in real life, like a ring or medallion, which is also a digital asset in the metaverse. Using 3D scanning technology and metadata, Kevin plans to authenticate each piece and link it to a Physical NFT (PNFT).

These items will have real-world specifications—gold weight, diamond quality, and ethical sourcing certifications—encoded as part of the NFT, ensuring that the jewelry's authenticity and provenance are preserved digitally.

For Kevin, this isn't just about jewelry. It’s about creating artifacts that players can find in-game—whether through quests or Easter egg hunts—and then take into the real world. As the technology matures, he envisions a future where digital items from games are turned into real-life treasures, blurring the lines between the metaverse and reality.

Style Protocol plays a big role in Kevin’s vision, enabling users to wear these artifacts on their digital avatars in virtual environments, like a Ready Player One-style metaverse. “You’d get all those cool feelings, that nostalgia from playing the game, and then you could wear it in real life,” he explains. The integration of gaming and real-world artifacts opens up possibilities for collaboration with game studios, where Kevin could design unique pieces for in-game worlds.

KShak.io's online store is set to launch by the end of this year, with the metaverse integration following closely in early 2025.

Collaborations and Expertise

Kevin’s expertise goes far beyond jewelry. He brings a wealth of business experience from traditional sectors to the Web3 space, advising on product design and merchandise strategies.

In the Neo Tokyo ecosystem, Kevin is currently collaborating with Crasher for some new merch concepts that have yet to be revealed.

Hobbies and Life Beyond the Metaverse

While his business keeps him busy, Kevin’s life outside of work revolves around his family and a love for boxing.

With a seven-year-old stepdaughter and a two-year-old son, he finds fatherhood fulfilling, describing it as his new adrenaline rush. Before becoming a dad, Kevin was into extreme activities like free solo mountain climbing, though now he channels his energy into the boxing ring.

While it is true that historically October is one of the most consistently green months in crypto, this data still can't be relied upon with such conviction as the gamblers on Crypto Twitter would like you to believe.

What's more is that apparently “100% of election years had a green October, November and December. ”

And who would ever want to bet against historical patterns, right? Not me. No one.

So… we longed it. Oh yes, we longed it with leverage! But, we rejoiced prematurely, it seems. And we lost. Why can't we have nice things? 😭

As we all know, people always need someone else to blame. In the past few months the people that everyone projected their blame on were Ansem, GCR and Vitalik.

Now that CZ is back out of prison, it is him who is the target of CT’s negativity.

“Lock him back in,” the masses shouted.

Well, October actually opened quite bearish. We have seen BTC fall from 65 to 60k immediately, with many alts bleeding even more.

If we take a look at the 7 day performance of these assets things do not look bullish, oh no, not at all.

And guess what? Things are even worse when it comes to NFTs.

So, what we actually got instead of a pump, was another opportunity to accumulate the assets that we all know and love. 😊

Even in the NT ecosystem seeing a healthy bytes correction after the recent pump which leads one to ask themselves.. Are they undervalued? 🤔

So, is Uptober still on the table? I mean, who knows at this point, right?. Maybe a couple more liquidations, than up only? Maybe just reverse trade Capo? Maybe hold comfy spot? Maybe derisk? Maybe double down like Becker?

Who knows at this point.
