This Week in Neo Tokyo
This past week, citizens had a phenomenal opportunity to get in on a seed investment with Dr Disrespect’s Midnight Society. The initial $400k raise was filled in minutes, and the team was then able to get an additional $400k.
bings.eth | web3 lawyer then summed up the significance of the raise, and hinted at what’s to come…
“We are astounded by the support and investment interest for Midnight Society! This has been our biggest single raise to date and no better project than a leading gaming studio that is poised to onboard millions of gamers into web3. We look forward to continuing to bring fire deals to NeoTokyo and working closely with the NeoTokyo leadership team. Expect details regarding the future NeoTokyo exclusive launchpad in 2 weeks”
If that’s not enough from CitCap, The Citadel’s official VC arm has a big X Space set for 3pm ET Monday 11 Sep, to discuss their partnership with Steady Stack on their mining initiative.
Neo Tokyo, and its valiant News Division, have remained active on Twitter with several high-profile Spaces this past week. NT News hosted it’s weekly NFT Market Monday show with the crew from citizen-led The Kingdom. The AMA team hosted a conversation on the Future of Web3 Gaming with Star Atlas. Then on Thursday, the PRP team hosted an #NTBuilds Space with several builders discussing the process of starting a project in Web3.
Once upon a bull run, the Basement was one of the most active, controversial and wildest neighborhoods in The Citadel. A recent proposal accepted and enacted by the Community Leads aims to renew the potency of the metacity’s nadir. If that’s something you’ve been missing, jump back into the Basement and help with it’s revival.
Upgrades are incoming for the Citizen Directory, and you’ll soon be able to find the location of to better facilitate IRL meetups.
Several citizens and citizen-led projects were involved in the new TV show The Next Crypto Gem. Check out the first episode here.
That’s all we have for you this week. Come join us at NFT Market Monday - 5pm ET and we’ll get you caught up on everything going on in the NFT space.
BYTES September Chart Update
August marked a dynamic period for BYTES, fluctuating from under $1 to a peak of $2.90.
Data from the last three months provides a clear picture of anticipated BYTES emissions: approximately 361,759 new tokens (or about 6,000 daily) were generated in the past 60 days.
The current liquidity depth, standing at about $1,100 for a 2% shift, illustrates that even a minor sale of claimed BYTES can significantly lower the price.
With September’s pivot points mirroring August’s, we can foresee similar market trends, barring any unforeseen catalysts.
September Monthly Pivots in USD:
Support 1: $0.92
Central Pivot 🧲: $1.91
Resistance 1: $3.42
September is expected to maintain similar trends, as indicated by consistent movements between the pivot points in August, underscoring value below $2 and heightened risk nearing $3.
Becker emphasizes that the foundations and utility for BYTES staking are progressively being constructed. Although exact future developments remain undisclosed, the NT dreamers remain optimistic about Neo Tokyo’s long-term prospects, assured that the digital city’s vision will materialize effectively.
These pivot charts are not meant to predict anything but they can be used to assess risks and opportunities in the market. Catalysts can affect the price of BYTES in unexpected ways.

Creator League Died Before It Started. What Can We Learn?
Last week, MrBeast revealed a new esports tournament, the Creator League.
Eight influencers would compete in free-to-watch tournaments for a $200k prize pool. Each influencer would lead their own team and compete for the prize.
The Creator League had a $20 community pass that gave its owners the ability to join their favorite creator’s team and play alongside them.
So far, so good, right?
Well, soon after the announcement, rumors started spreading that the community passes were actually NFTs.
And you know what gamers hate more than spoilers?
NFTs.
Soon after that, one of the eight creators (CdawgVA) said that he was pulling out of the tournament. He said that he was not aware of the blockchain/NFT element.
Well, in reality, the community passes weren’t NFTs that you can speculate on. They were Soulbound tokens running on NEAR protocol. But it was too late by then.
The company behind the league, eFuse, laid off some staff members and postponed the league. Anyone who bought a community pass will be refunded, and eFuse will still host the free tournament.
So, the Creator League that was created to bring some mainstream adoption to Web3 failed before it started.
What could we learn from this?
Here are some key lessons:
Clarity is everything
Not telling the influencers in the league about the blockchain/NFT element is a big no-no, given the negative perspective gamers have around crypto, in general.
Don’t be shady around crypto
Hiding the crypto/NFT elements only for people to find out from 3rd party sources made the entire league look worse. If they were open about it from day 1, we wouldn’t be here.
We need better creators
If we had popular creators who actually were educated on the use case, believed in it, and were transparent about it during the launch, the league would have been a success.
Unfortunately, the web2 influencer (and gaming) crowd doesn’t like crypto/NFTs at the moment, and with launches like this, we can’t blame them.
